3. Five Hot New Restaurants In Melbourne For summer 2011

Chin Chin
125 Flinders Lane, Melbourne
Lunch & Dinner, 7 days a week.

South-East Asian dishes big on flavour. The extensive menu includes small, medium and large dishes ranging from $8 to $33. Chin Chin has been drawing rave reviews since it opened a few months ago and there is often a queue (they don't do bookings), so it is best to go early (around 6pm) or late (the kitchen closes around 11pm).

Claypots Evening Star
Cnr Cecil and York Sts, South Melbourne
Dinner Tues-Sun. (Lunch market days only)

More seafood bar than restaurant, this is the latest culinary attraction at South Melbourne Market, just a short walk form many of our Southbank apartments. During the day there are $8 'mussels on the run' and $15 'chilli crabs'. For dinner treat yourself to one of the large fish and the gilgamesh wines are great value at $27 a bottle

Bistro Guillaume

Chez Dre
Daily 7:30am to 4:30pm
(rear of) 285-287 Coventry St, South Melbourne

In South Melbourne in the heart of Coventry Street's boutiques and cafes is Chez Dre. This is the creation of a Melbourne pastry chef, Andrea Reiss (Dre), who learnt her craft in Michelin starred restaurants in France and recently returned to Melbourne where she has stylishly converted a warehouse into a buzzing cafe. This is a great option for both breakfast or lunch with French inspired baguettes followed by a delicious cake or pastry.
